Hall of Shame Dr. Bill's Signature M & B 7mm
Wetsuit

Being a starving marine
biologist rather than the "other" kind of doctor, Dr. Bill cannot afford to be
a trend setter in apres dive gear. In fact, he tends to wear his equipment
until it literally falls off his body (hopefully at the surface rather than at
200 feet).
The wetsuit pictured above is his "signature suit." It is, or
more accurately was, a custom made M&B 7mm full suit. Dr. Bill was not its
first owner. It was given to him by Leon Cooper, a past president of the
Catalina Conservancy Divers. Despite Dr. Bill's stockier build, this wetsuit
fit him like a glove... a very tight one... and proved to be the warmest
wetsuit he's ever worn.
After about 750 dives, the legs were so tattered
that Dr. Bill returned the suit to M&B to have them chopped off and the
seams sewn to create a unique 7mm 3/4 shortie (full arms, shortie legs) which
he continued to dive well into winter.
Eventually the suit fell apart
to the point where even the large patches (see butt) could not successfully
hold it together. After about 13 years of total service, Dr. Bill retired this
suit back in 2004. However, he brings it out for special occasions... but only
during the warm season!
